How to avoid motor jamming during operation?

How to avoid motor jamming during operation? Stuck motor operation will not only affect the normal operation of the equipment, but also may shorten the service life of the motor and increase maintenance costs. In order to avoid the motor running jamming, can be from the motor selection, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance of a number of links to start.

Before motor selection, the power, torque and speed required for the operation of the equipment should be accurately calculated and other parameters. When driving a conveyor belt, it is necessary to calculate the power and torque that the motor needs to provide according to the length of the conveyor belt, running speed and other factors, to ensure that the rated parameters of the selected motor can meet the actual load requirements.

Different loads have different characteristics, such as constant torque loads, constant power loads and fan pump loads. For constant torque loads, the motor with sufficient torque output capacity should be selected; for fan and pump loads, the use of variable frequency motors can be considered in order to achieve better energy saving effect and operational stability.

The installation accuracy of the motor directly affects its operating performance. Installation should ensure that the coaxiality of the motor and load equipment, to avoid excessive coaxial deviation and generate additional load, resulting in motor operation jamming. When installing the coupling, professional measuring tools should be used for calibration to control the coaxiality error within the allowable range.

The wiring of the motor must be carried out in strict accordance with the wiring diagram to ensure that the phase sequence is correct. If the phase sequence is reversed, the motor may reverse or vibrate or jam. It is important to ensure that the wiring is firm to avoid arcing due to poor contact and damage to the motor windings.

The motor generates heat during operation, and if the cooling system is blocked, it will cause the motor temperature to be too high, affecting its performance and life. The motor’s cooling fan, heat sink and other components should be cleaned regularly to ensure that the heat dissipation channels are clear.

Dust and corrosive gases can cause damage to the motor’s windings, bearings and other components, affecting the normal operation of the motor. Effective protective measures should be taken to reduce the dust and corrosive gases from entering the inside of the motor.
